The tragic death by shooting of Tejano singer Selena has triggered a response in the Latino community that could be likened in the wake of the deaths of Elvis Presley and John Lennon. The music of Selena, an artist who was hugely successful across Latino communities throughout North America touched people young as well as old. Selena is an edgy and sexy performer. She's often referred to as Latina Madonna. She's also considered a role model to be reckoned with because off stage Selena has a family-oriented attitude and actively participates in anti-drug programs.
